Get set for an upgrade, clear your tech cabinets and make way for some cool gadgets tailor-made for the diva in you

As technological trends get sleeker and smarter, turns out, the innovations in 2012 are going to be extremely high-tech and will go perfectly with your stylish persona. Verve takes a peep into the future

For the femme fatale who enjoys her sit-down dinners
Ultrabook

It’s thin, it’s sleek and it’s an Intel. This Tablet with a keyboard is already hot property. It’s what one can call an economy Notebook with premium luxury features. And yes, it’s instant-start and doesn’t have an optical drive (first for Intel). And of course, with its raging publicity, the manufacturer is leaving no room to slay the regular Tablet.

For the tube lover who is fond of candlelit vintage-film screenings
Smart TV

Forget those old and boring traditional TV shows and welcome the stylish integration of the internet and Web 2.0. Search and find videos, movies, photos and other content stored on a local hard drive or on the web while you simultaneously scan through local cable or satellite channels. In lay terms, it means we can finally get to see some internationally acclaimed films / TV shows that fail to make it to our screens.

For the diva who prefers to do one thing at a time!
Apple’s HDTV - iTV

Yes it’s coming. Apple devices prowl on its simplicity where you don’t have to plug in many devices or wires to get it operational and early rumours suggest it’s going to be a mixture of everything with of course an advance version of Siri.

For the ‘control’ freak who cannot part with her limited edition handbag
Microsoft Kinectic sets

We’ve heard that Microsoft is looking to integrate its Kinect motion sensor technology into television sets and if that happens, it will allow users to control TV shows using their voice or by gestures. Sorry boys, no more ‘remote’ wars!

For the fashionista who loves gourmet feast and multi-tasking
Quad-core smart phones and tablets

With almost every major manufacturer having announced their quad core phones, tech freaks can look forward to a whole new ‘mobile’ experience with faster processing, better OS experience, quicker multi-tasking, smarter apps and lots more. Watch out, your whole life is going to be on it.

For the social butterfly who knows her OS better than her lipstick
The OS warfare

As Nokia enters the market with Windows Phone7.5 based phones and new tablets always around the corner, the application market will explode with new wars between iOS vs Android vs Windows Phone7.5.

For the cerebralista who loves sailing
Microsoft’s new offering

So if you are still figuring what the heck was MS Windows Vista all about, get over it and make way for Windows 8. The new Operating System is scalable like no other MS product — a sure winner.

TECH BYTE
Every time a new technology or a device gets a boost in the market, it inadvertently kills another piece of technology that reigned before it. Just like what CDs did to music tapes did to records or what mobile phones did to pagers and what digital cameras did to spin-a-roll-film cameras. In the 21st century way of things, products are announced at the speed of light and the shelf life of a technology is less than a year. Like in the last few years, shiny discs made a quick exit to make way for USB drives and even better: file-sharing services or the 'cloud' that shows complete disregard for the use of physical devices. Environmentalists can be at peace now!
