The midriff commands attention this summer

bare Belly

It’s about time that we shed those layers and flaunt our fab-abs in bustiers, cropped tops and jackets. Runways across the globe experienced a shift of the focal point to the centre from last year’s boyish and androgynous silhouettes. With the temperature soaring, what better way to beat the heat than getting waisted! Bring back the wild 60s look with knotted shirts and crop tees paired with high waist skirts or boyfriend denims. If baring it all is not your style, layer it with a sheer jacket or waistcoat.

Ethnic influences in everything from fabric to surface ornamentation techniques are all over the place this season. Whether it is tie and dye, ikat or batik adorning the rich textiles like hand spun cotton, khadi and muslin, or embellishments like mirror, gota and tassels. The mood is not essentially traditional as these elements find their way onto everything from short dresses to contemporary bags and even jewellery. The whole idea is to mix and match by juxtaposing the simplicity of a village damsel with the practicality of the modern day woman.
