Flirty lavender lids, platinum shadows under thick lashes, lips drenched in shades of pink and corals, and pop nails.... Verve takes note of the season’s hottest trends

Fresh and natural looking face
To get a natural looking dewy complexion is the ultimate litmus test for even make-up professionals. Ace make-up artist Clint Fernandes explains, “Apply some moisturiser before you start with the foundation. Alternatively you could use a pore refining or a face-lifting serum to tighten the skin. Then set the make-up with some translucent powder. For that dewy look, dust some shimmer powder but only on the T-zones. A hint of platinum shadows around the corners of the eye also lifts up the entire face.”

Wide voluminous eyes
Eyelash extensions are popular as thick and sexy lashes are big this season. Stock up on the mascara, as a few coats are enough to brighten up your tired eyes instantly. “Start with the lower lid, moving from the inner rim to the outer part of the lashes. After a minute, do the upper lashes. Keep an additional mascara wand to separate the lashes, to avoid the clumpy eyed look. Let the first coat settle before the second application. Keep the mascara light and repeat the application,” states Fernandes.

Soft pink, coral lips
From peach to fuchsia, pink has made a huge comeback. Red lips, the showstoppers of the Fall/Autumn collection, refuse to take a backseat even in this season. You can choose to take the middle ground with the corals. “Fair skin would look brighter with a pink tinged coral, while deeper corals would complement warmer complexion,” advises make-up expert Cory Wallia.

Pop bright nails
Fuchsia, orange, lime green and yellow – nails get clad in solid, neon colours. To get the look right, keep your nails short and shaped. If you want to experiment, try gradient manicure.

Flirt with smoky eyes
Black and grey smoky eyes have moved over this season giving way to smoky blue and lavender eyes. A trend to be followed but with some caution, believes Fernandes. “Cooler shades of blue and lavender are best avoided by dusky complexions. To make the trend more flattering, go for deeper pigments in the same shade.”
