The nation’s designers respond, through the medium they know best

Nachiket Barve, Mumbai

“The white free flowing garment signifies peace, which is ravaged by blood red, depicting violence. The red goes from bright to a deeper crimson at its edges; yet the core of the garment remains predominantly white. It is a reminder that peace and honesty shall always prevail over violence and hate.”

Anuj Sharma, Ahmedabad

“Money is one of the greatest powers. It drives evil, and is the root cause of terrorism– even more than ideologies and fundamentalisms. The greed for it is in every pore of every social stratum, in all of us – not just the politicians. Acts to acquire wealth and power have ranged from small accidents to magnified disasters, but that is the fast track to doom.”

Jenjum Gadi (of Koga by Jasleen and Jenjum), Delhi

“My garment is the expression of a very angry fashion designer. For terrorists, the punishment of death is not enough. I believe that they are already dead, and that is why they have no feelings, emotions or love for anybody. Killing dead people again makes no sense. We must teach them a lesson, and also make them die a hundred times, like the loved ones of the people they kill.”

Anand Kabra, Hyderabad

“Defenseless, vulnerable, yet not defeated…. I am my own guardian angel.”
