Brainchild of Tina Tahiliani-Parikh, Ensemble, India’s first fashion house has evolved into an inimitable brand that continues to conquer new horizons. Verve takes a peek into the wardrobes of four Ensemble loyalists to see what makes them keep returning to this eternal favourite

Neelam Shah
ETHNIC FLAIR

A fierce Ensemble supporter, Neelam Shah always seems to find something exquisite for herself at the store. Being a frequent customer for several years, since the inception of the boutique, she feels it has always maintained its commitment to quality in fashion and customer experience. A proud owner of several ethereal Tarun chiffons and vintage Sabyasachis, she just can’t seem to get enough of the unique pieces that they offer. “There are times I try to stay away so that I don’t get tempted, but then the Ensemble staff will call to inform me of a new collection that has come in and then I just can’t.”

Tina on Neelam: “Neelam is a luscious beauty. Every woman should aspire to be like her and with a husband who dotes on her and her three gorgeous kids, she gets better with each passing year.”

Prerna Goel
SIMPLY STUNNING

Prerna Goel is a fashionista who doesn’t follow trends but continues to make an impression with her tasteful and minimalist style sensibility. Preferred designers include Anamika Khanna, Priyadarshini Rao and Varun Bahl. She has a long standing association with the boutique. “Ensemble, as the name suggests, is not just a shop but a true house of fashion. There is always something available for every occasion and it houses talented new designers as well as the classics – it remains famously fashionable.”

Tina on Prerna: “I first met Prerna a decade ago when Tarun did her trousseau.?She has immaculate taste and always picks up the best pieces in the store.?Of course it helps that she is gorgeous and looks good in everything.”

Ila Chatterjee
FASHION CONNOISSEUR

An interior designer by profession, Ila’s aesthetic sensibility extends to her personal style as well – a flawless blend of modern spiked with eclectic chic. An ardent watcher of Ensemble designers she has been a customer for many years and owns an impressive collection of their vintage pieces. She confesses to being a fan of the earlier designers such as Hidden Harmony and a lover of vintage Tarun and Monisha pieces. Current favourites include Sanchita Ajjampur, Gaba and Savio Jon.

Tina on Ila: “Ila is super chic.?She has an amazing ability to take the simplest outfit and accessorise it beautifully with things she has picked up from all over the world. She has a great eye and always looks stunning.”

Karishma Javeri
DAZZLING DEBUTANTE

London born and bred Karishma Javeri moved to Mumbai a couple of years ago. Her first tryst with local fashion was at Ensemble and it has been a favourite haunt ever since. A contemporary dresser by choice, Karishma finds herself drawn to the classic lines of Monisha Jaising, Tarun Tahiliani and Anamika Khanna. “Ensemble to me is a one stop shop for all my fashion needs. I’m always spoilt for choice, be it a pręt, Indian or accessory purchase.”

Tina on Karishma: “She is definitely one of our most stylish clients. Her no-fuss, super chic design sense makes every piece she wears look like it was designed especially for her. Her effortless charm and warmth have endeared her to all of us at Ensemble, even though we have just known her for a year and a half.”
