Embrace your masculine side and refresh your wardrobe colour palette

HAUTE AND COOL

Not a single shade, but a mighty combination rules runways this summer. Red and white/ivory come together in many ways – sometimes reminiscent of Assamese and Bengali traditional cottons and silks, sometimes in the form of Madras and gingham checks. Some shades of rouge are sharp, while others are soft and milky. The duo may harmonise in a single garment, or an outfit can be created with separates in these hues. Sometimes glamorous, sometimes earthy, sometimes young and innocent, sometimes ethnic. But always fresh. Always works.

LADS AND LADIES

Androgyny still runs strong this year. We women are still carrying on with the Y chromosome look. But the summer version is slightly more laidback, though tailored. We can be spotted sporting a checkered shirt, or a mannish kurta, or a matador-esque waistcoat, or front-creased chinos, or long shorts. We jazz up our evenings with a sequinned blazer, or go the Kate Moss way in slouchy uppers and skinny lowers. We hitch up our collars, push up our sleeves, add on a bow-tie or don some oxfords sans socks. Dude, we look good.
