Fighting the city pollution or the traffic snarls, being the soccer mom or the corporate mogul, playing the perfect hostess or chairing a high-powered conference – these are just a few of the to-dos on your regular day. Verve frontlines some tips to help you look your dazzling best while handling these multi-dimensional roles

OVERALL MAKE-UP TIPS
Let’s shatter the myth that concealer is only for those with bad skin. Even people with a good complexion can use it to hide under-eye bags, pimples, scars and pigmentation. It makes all the difference. All you really need to do is get products that exactly match your skin tone. Take some concealer and pat it on the troubled areas. After this apply a little compact or loose powder, which takes you a long way as it helps your face look fresh and prevents it from appearing greasy. Blush always brings a glow to your face; without it one tends to look pale. You can even use bronzer instead of blush depending on whether you want a rosy or a sun-kissed look. Instead of applying dark and bold colours, outline your lips with a lip-liner and fill the outline with a light and natural shade of lipstick or gloss so it lasts longer and looks fresh. Eye-pencil and mascara are essential as they open up tired eyes. “Work make-up should be minimal, keeping in mind that we are in the peak of the summer. Lip-gloss or lipstick should be on the pink side. Try and use a cream-based blush so it stays on longer and add a touch of water-proof mascara”, suggests make-up and hair expert, Mahesh Bhasme. Last, but not the least, always wear a little bit of perfume, it will keep you smelling and feeling fresh!

HANDS AND NAILS
Women often use their hands to talk and so they become a focal point. It is extremely important to have pretty and well-groomed hands. Nails should be clean, trimmed and well-filed. Avoid wearing bright and shocking nail colours or nail art. Try and keep your nails mid-length at all times. Short and chewed nails look just as bad as long talons. Use more natural colours, such as pinks and beiges or opt for a classic and elegant French manicure. Sometimes if you don’t have time to paint your nails, you can even get away with just well-filed nails, just as long as they look neat and clean.

HAIR
Choose a hairstyle that is suitable to your face and hair type, as well as easy to maintain. You need to find the time to regularly have your hair styled and trimmed as this controls split ends. If you need to colour your hair or hide greys, try and use vegetable dyes as they are safer but require regular touch-ups. If you like to colour your hair anyway then stick to shades that are closest to your natural hair colour as they don’t need to be followed up that often. Mornings are usually too busy and chaotic so it’s always a good idea to wash your hair the night before. Sticking to neat and conservative hairstyles for work is usually advisable. Tying a neat ponytail or pulling your hair back in a tight bun so that it doesn’t fall on your face would be a good way to style your tresses to work every day.
